Is Project Ukraine collapsing?
In ancient Roman antiquity, the famous Latin phrase Carthago delenda est was uttered by the Roman statesman Cato the Elder. Meaning “Carthage must be destroyed,” Cato reportedly ended many of his speeches with this same phrase, regardless of the subject of discussion. As Carthage was Rome’s long-standing rival, repetition of the phrase was intended to regularly communicate that Rome was disinterested in having an independent rival power, and so the only solution was their complete annihilation.
It reminds me somewhat of America’s frequent jabs at the remnants of the British empire.
We have discussed previously how when the Western empire fragmented, America broke away from the UK/EU/Commonwealth NATO blob to shift their foreign policy towards aggressive domination of the Western hemisphere. Both portions remain connected to the Zionist cause, but the NATO remnants are in a weaker position as the situation worsens in Ukraine and America negotiates with Russia. Are recent developments signalling that the EU remnants are stepping into the role of Carthage while America assumes a more dominant Roman position?
Lately, Western media outlets, which had been insisting for years that the “tide was turning” in favour of the Ukraine to justify the billions of dollars of taxpayer funding, are now acknowledging that Ukraine is losing the war. Major networks like The New York Times and the BBC are now reporting more regularly on subjects that cast Ukrainian leadership in a negative light, such as the violent busification efforts and fraud related to 7 out of 10 of Ukraine’s top military contractors.
On September 3rd, there was also a shootout between two of Ukraine’s top intelligence agencies. HUR (Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, focusing on foreign intelligence) and the SBU (State Security Service, handling domestic intelligence and counter-terrorism) openly fired on each other in the streets, suggesting serious internal tensions and prompting a significant security changeup. Ruslan Kravchenko, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, was initially intended to investigate the incident with the State Bureau of Investigation, however, shortly afterwards, he had to resign from his position himself due to the results of Operation Carthage, a major anti-corruption operation targeting an alleged high-level protection racket operating from within his Prosecutor General’s Office.
The PGO is itself intended to oversee major criminal investigations, however, following midnight searches, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) detained several high-profile Ukrainian officials including Serhii Kropyva, the former Deputy Head of the Department of International Legal Cooperation at the OGP. NABU and SAPO allege that in mid-2025, a criminal organization was established within the PGO, which took bribes from fraudulent call centre networks across Ukraine in exchange for immunity from law enforcement. NABU and SPO allege that the money was laundered into real estate, luxury jewellery, and cash conversions, which echoes previous criminal investigations we have covered involving corruption in Ukraine— the attempted bombing of the Yermolaiev family in Monaco was also connected to Ukraine’s fraudulent call centres, while real estate money laundering evokes the Dynastia money laundering scandal involving high-level officials like Zelensky’s former Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak.
At the same time Zelensky was navigating the fallout, US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner went on a tour to both Moscow and Kyiv to discuss another potential peace plan. The plan reportedly included a complete ceasefire as well as Ukraine’s non-aligned status and renouncement of accession to NATO (amongst other agreements).
These developments are interesting for many reasons, including the fact that, as I write this, Zelensky is in Canada. While speaking to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, the Narcoführer thanked Ottawa for the billions donated while Carney repeated that Canada will “provide more support… for Ukraine’s path to joining NATO [and] the European Union.” Ottawa also signed a 100-year partnership agreement with Ukraine, pledging to contribute technology to their anti-ballistic missile program both during this war and into the future. Zelensky also took the side of Canada on the American/Canadian trade war, calling U.S. threats to annex Canada “very dangerous.”
These agreements between Canada and the Ukraine decisions are obviously frustrating to me as a Canadian (relying on Canada for military and financial support at this time is like asking for medical advice from a wounded man bleeding out on the ground), however, they’re also geopolitically interesting, because as I mentioned, America has been roasting Ottawa hard lately. They have mocked our comparatively weaker military by alluding to old Canadian submarine attractions at Alberta’s West Edmonton Mall and implying our current soldiers are too fat and gay to fight a major power (their criticism is that the Canadian army prioritizes DEI idealism over physical standards). Carney’s recent comments and commitments to Ukraine and Zelensky’s comments regarding the American/Canadian trade war thus puts both Ukraine and Canada again in opposition to America and Russia’s peace plan and foreign policy interests. As I’ve mentioned, Canada is also a geographic buffer between the two more powerful countries.
Interestingly, Donald Trump is also currently in Ireland, suggesting that Ireland and Northern Ireland should be united. Similar to his comments about Canada and the 51st state or Greenland and Denmark, these statements troll another portion of the remnants of the British Empire, who find Northern Ireland’s constitutional status an extremely sensitive topic. Two weeks ago, new British PM Andy Burnham specifically said that a referendum on Northern Ireland leaving the UK was “off the table.” Trump’s comments thus appear intended to target unionists with similar positions, which lines up with the theory that Trump is attacking former British/European colonies who continue to be loyal to Britain. Does he perhaps expect Britain, the EU, the Commonwealth, and the CIA-puppet government in Ukraine to be officially removed as rivals together, as Carthage was similarly destroyed by Rome?
Mark Carney, after all, was born in Canada, but is known as being culturally European. His efforts seek to align Canada more closely with Europe, and like Europeans like Boris Johnson, it is possible that Carney benefits from the war in Ukraine. He has a potential conflict of interest regarding Ukraine energy deals—Carney was the chair of Brookfield Asset Management before entering politics, and as of his July 2025 ethics disclosure, he still held stock options and deferred shares in Brookfield and its parent company. Due to these potential conflicts of interest, Carney’s assets were placed in a blind trust, and Canada’s ethics commissioner was required to set up a screening to ensure he would not make decisions that benefit his former employer. Democracy Watch however has called this a “loophole-filled, unethical smokescreen,” and that the only way to be truly ethical here would be for Carney to have sold his shares.
Brookfield structurally benefits from energy deals with Ukraine because Brookfield owns Westinghouse, which is one of Ukraine’s key nuclear energy partners. As a Brookfield subsidiary, Westinghouse has been supporting the development of reactors in Ukraine, which has included supplying VVER nuclear fuel to Ukraine’s Energoatom (the nuclear energy company whose contracting process was captured by a criminal group involved in kickbacks and money laundering schemes). Contracts that grow Westinghouse’s Ukraine business thus flow revenue to a Brookfield-owned company, and since Westinghouse has multi-billion dollar growing contracts with Energoatom, this could be cause for concern. At this time, there’s no evidence that Mark Carney, Westinghouse, Brookfield, or Cameco (a Canadian uranium producer that acquired Westinghouse along with Brookfield) are targets or implicated in the NABU probes regarding Energoatom, however, these deals were signed during the same period that the company’s leadership and contracting processes were found to be compromised.
Washington and Moscow must know about all of this. Given the trade war with Canada, the most recent Moscow peace talks, and Ukraine’s alignment with Canada regarding NATO and 51st state threats, how will America and Russia respond? Do they consider us to be Carthage?
